James DeVaux capped both halves of the early double with Sandy Hook Hanover (1:57 - $8.30) & Wiggler (1:56.2 $2.90) and then continued to march his way to the winner’s circle with Muscle Defined (2:00 - $4.30) and then with Grecale AS (1:59.2 - $2.30) Grecale AS, the winningest trotter in North America earned his 15th victory of the year, the foreign bred son of Sugarcane Hanover is owned and trained by Don Hoover.

New York’s leading ladies will convene at Monticello Raceway on Tuesday September 12, when 3-year-old pacing fillies visit the Catskill Mountain oval.  The overnight sheet shows 2 splits of Sire Stakes, racing for a purse of $59,100, 3 Excelsior’s A’s - $15,000 and 2 Excelsior B’s - $6,600

On Thursday afternoon at Monticello Raceway (September 7) Austin Siegelman owned the middle part of the racing card and won 5 consecutive races.  The winning streak started in race 7 and continued through race 11.  Winbak Prince ($6.10) got the party started for Siegelman in the 7th race, winning by 7 lengths in 1:56. The aptly named Winning ($3.30) made it 2 in row, Goodness Grace (PP2) the Mary Martin trained Conway Hall filly was next in 2:04.1.

With school, almost in session, the local stock of caulk was in short supply as 5 of the 6 Sire Stake events where won by favorites at Monticello Raceway on Monday afternoon August 28.  Horse’s on the front end, won 9 of the cards 10 races on a chilly afternoon with temperatures only in the mid 60’s with a strong intermittent back side wind.

On Monday August 28, Monticello Raceway will host the glamour division of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) when 3-year old pacing colts come to town. 6 of the 10 leading point earners in the state will participate on the program.
The entry box contained 17 entries for the regular Sire Stakes, which equated into 3 divisions, each worth $39,200. The Excelsior A class has 2 divisions, each worth $15,000 and the Excelsior B’s will go with 1 split, worth $6,500.

Lima Novelty sets track record at Monticello Raceway

The New York Sire Stakes calendar was kind to the freshman trotting colts, as their first NYSS competition was at Tioga Downs.  For today’ contest at Monticello Raceway (July 31) it was many of the young trotters first start on a twice around oval.  72 colts comprised 11 of the cards 13 races.

Based on the sheer number of 2-Year-Old Trotting Colts that dropped in the box, the health of the New York Sire Stakes program appears to be excellent condition. 72 colts were entered for Mondays July 31st New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) event at Monticello Raceway. 11 of the 13 races on the Monday racing program are NYSS events.

On a track that was listed as good, from a morning deluge and unseasonably cold tempatures, the adverse conditions did not stop the newest member of the 7000 club Jason Bartlett, as he won 4 races on the 13 race program.

The 3rd stop of the New York Sire Stakes Circuit will visit Monticello Raceway on Monday July 24, on hand will be the cream of the crop for New York Bred 2 Year Old Pacing Colts and Geldings. The Monday afternoon card of 13 races, features 4 divisions of regular NYSS - $27,750, 4 Excelsior A’s - $15,000 and 1 split of the Excelsior B class.
