Over the course of the winter Ken Jacobs may have to rearrange his trophy case and make room for some incoming hardware.  Ken has been an ardent racing fan since the 1960s, buying his first horse in the 1990’s.  Fast forward to the present and Ken has the honor of owning the fastest 2-year-old Trotting Colt in Harness Racing history when his colt Walner shattered the existing world record by almost a second, to set the new stanza of 1:51.3.

Planned for and presented on November 10, the 241st anniversary of the founding the United States Marine Corps, local amateur clubs had two races- a trot and a pace- at Monticello Raceway for military veterans who are also amateur drivers and at days end both the North American Amateur Drivers Association and the Catskill Amateur Drivers Club each presented a check for $1000 to the Sullivan County Veterans Food Bank director Kathy Kreiter.

On Monday afternoon at Monticello Raceway, James Devaux had a full house, he won 5 of the 9 races on the program.   James is currently in 5th place in the leading dash win category with 144 wins, Bruce Aldrich Jr. leads the pack with 314.

Monticello, NY – Bob Boni has always had a good eye for a horse.  It was this keen sense of conformation that prompted him to select World Champion Nihilator as a weanling.

Fast forward 30-plus years and Boni finds himself associated with another World Champion, Always B Miki, who is the fastest Standardbred of all time.   It is this sharp eye for horseflesh that has helped Bob Boni develop his own Northwood Bloodstock into one of North America’s leading harness horse sales agencies over the last several decades.
